It’s 11:00 am and feel like you’ve run out of energy. The minutes seem like hours and your mind is distracted. There are still two hours until lunch, and four more in the afternoon. Looking alert and feeling productive is going to be a major feat you’ll need to carry off until the end of the day. This isn’t the first time

This lack of energy, which can generate even funny comments from your colleagues, could threaten your productivity and ultimately your job. You really don’t want to turn up every day looking like something the cat dragged in. So, before it gets worse, let me give you six quick ways to boost your energy levels.

1. If you have a job where you are sitting behind a desk all day or in front of a computer screen, take five minutes to get up or lean back and close our eyes and stretch, especially in the area of shoulders and legs. Sitting all day can make your body feel stiff and sleepy. A good stretching session that helps your body comes into heat and revive the bloodstream.

2. Avoid the temptation of caffeine or food and drink plenty of sugar, such as coffee, tea or chocolate. Caffeine can temporarily increase your energy levels, but also has the characteristic of loosening the body once the effects are gone. Instead, choose foods based on grains, fruits and vegetables to give your body the fuel it really needs. Eating healthy will improve your mood, elevate your state of alert and will make you feel better throughout the day.

3. Apart from the healthy foods, made a walk of 10 to 15 minutes during the lunch hour. Those few minutes of activity will give you a burst of energy that will refresh you and make you feel more alert, while burning calories lunch in the process.

4. Sometimes, the morning bajones occur because your body is trying to communicate something you need. You might feel tired if your blood sugar is low (something that is especially true after the effects of caffeine and ultra sugary foods have disappeared). Bring a snack of cereal, sesame, honey and nuts can give your body that needs the injection, and will prevent you feel hungry at times late into the evening and fall into the temptation to devour the entire contents of the vending machine food .

5. The drowsiness or torpor is a sign that you have not eaten the right amount of water. Drink more water throughout the day not only helps keep you awake, but also avoids the appearance of those on hunger strikes that inevitably are present in the morning. Fill a bottle with water and keep close to the desktop is an excellent way to consume the recommended daily throughout the day.

6. If fatigue is a recurring problem morning, could be a side effect of any medication you’re eating. Allergy pills are often responsible, as some antihypertensive drugs, antidepressants and anxiolytics. Do not try to reverse these effects with caffeine, or overload your body with stimulants that sooner or later, you will feel tired physically and mentally. Instead, you can try a siestecita 15 or 20 minutes. You will be surprised to feel the soul injected into your body. We do not try this at work, however tempting it may be.

If you follow these steps on a regular basis, not just manage to avoid such bajones morning, but you feel better mentally and physically throughout the day. Also, make it sleep better at night and therefore you wake rejuvenated and energized to face the day. A great day …

Healthy eating is eating the appropriate balance of foods and nutrients in your diet. The key to eating healthy is not to stop yourself from eating the foods you like but rather balancing what you eat with a combination of healthy foods.

There are five food groups you should be concentrating on. Fruits and vegetables should make up one third of your daily diet. You should be eating at least five portions of fruits and vegtables each day. There has been research shown that these foods will protect against cancer, obesity and heart disease.

Bread, rice, potatoes and pasta should also make up about a third of your diet. You want foods in this category that are unrefined because foods that are refined contain all of the whole grain.

Milk and dairy foods need to be eaten in moderation because they are highly saturated in fat but at the same time they are a rich source of calcium which of course helps your teeth and bones. It is best to choose foods that are low-fat or reduced-fat.

Meat, fish, eggs and bean contain both animal and plant sources of protein which is a major necessity for the cells in your body. Protein proved the body between 10-15% of its energy and is needed for growth in children and teens. Fats, oils and sweets are foods that need to be eaten in very small moderation.

Eating an maintaining a balanced diet includes basing your meal on starchy foods like potatoes or pasta, eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetable, eat more fish and seafood, lower your intake of saturated fats and sugar, eat less salt and foods rich in sodium, do not skip breakfast which is the most important meal of the day, drink plenty of water and exercise at least 20 minutes a day five days a week.

When it comes to portion size, less is better. In today’s world, it seems everything in the grocery store is getting larger in portion. They have king size candy bars, family size bags of chips and super size ready to eat meals. Energy density is the amount stored energy in food. Just one gram of fat provides nine calories so it does not take long for the calories to add up.

Healthy eating may not always be fun but it is necessary for our bodies to run more smoothly and if we are healthy, we have more energy to do our everyday things in life.
